Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training’s apprenticeship programme supporting students’ skills development
The Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) is offering the Professional Apprenticeship Programme.
The apprenticeship is a structured programme of learning governed by an agreement, combining on-the-job training and off-the-job learning, where learners acquire the skills, knowledge, roles, and responsibilities required for a specific occupation, resulting in a recognised qualification.
The programme targets 10 sectors such as Environment, Health and Safety; Electrical Technology; Mechanical Technology; Tourism; Technical Laboratory Analytics; Business Administration; Retail Operations; Electronics Technology; Mechatronics Engineering Technology and IT Multimedia.
The Apprenticeship Program is implemented at the Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute (ADVITI), which is affiliated with the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET). The apprenticeship programme is characterised by its balance between theoretical and practical aspects, with 30 per cent of learning taking place in classrooms and 70 per cent in workplace environments. The programme also provides job opportunities after graduation.
His Excellency Dr Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director General of ACTVET, affirmed that the centre operates from a future-oriented perspective in implementation of the wise leadership’s directives to provide advanced programmes that meet the requirements of future industries and contribute to the development of the vocational training system. The centre will also help achieve sustainable growth in line with government plans aimed at developing the skills of youth, linking their training plans to the needs of the labour market, and instilling a culture of entrepreneurship in the private sector.
